Michael Lay (Director / Broker)
Michael emigrated to New Zealand in early 2005 from the United Kingdom, and is a holder of the Advanced Financial Planning Certificate. With over twenty years financial services experience, Michael has a strong focus on client relationships and loves taking a pivotal role in working closely with his clients to assist them in achieving their personal financial goals.
Michael’s vast experience in offering a wide range of advice from simple life insurance, through to the more complex areas of trauma, disability, medical and business insurances ensures that every need is met should you face the unexpected. This coupled with his experience in the savings, investment and superannuation market, leads him to be able to offer clients a total and comprehensive risk management approach.
Michael is married with four children.
Lois Jury (Director / Broker)
Lois is Taranaki born and bred, and is married with 2 grown up daughters.
Her main focus is in the life insurance side of the industry (i.e. Trauma, Disability Income Protection, Total & Permanent Disablement, Key Person cover, Locum cover, health insurance, and of course life insurance) and specialises in helping business people and farmers to protect their assets with carefully structured insured benefits.

Fiona Browne (Broker)
Fiona Browne has been providing advice and assistance in the industry since 1994. In 1999 she became self employed as an independant Life Insurance Broker. As a mother of five children, Fiona feels she is in a good position to listen to people and to know their needs, particularly the needs of people with families and the changing circumstances they face.While Fiona offers advice on all types of insurance, she specialises in Life Insurance, Trauma cover, Income protection and Medical cover, for businesses, professional people and farmers. Sue Webster (Broker)
Sue Webster has been in the industry for a total of 17 years, comes from a nursing background. While nursing is her passion, she is no longer able to work in that field but sees her role as a broker as being another way of helping people.
“When my father died with no will and no insurance, I saw my Mother struggle to bring up a large family on her own. I want to help others make sure it doesn’t happen to them”, says Sue.
Roger Gannon (Broker)
Roger Gannon works for Horizon Insurance via his Palmerston North office.
Roger is a second generation insurance broker and has personally had 18 years of insurance broking experience. Roger takes his role as an insurance broker very seriously to be sure that he is giving the best product and advice to his clients.
Roger’s mission statement is to be recognised and respected as the business to contact for reliable and accurate advice on all life, disability and health insurance products.
Ele Gair (Broker)
Ele is a newcomer to Horizon Insurance, from her base in Gisborne.
She is a finance broker and is now using her experience to also provide life insurance advice to clients.
With a fresh and vibrant approach, Ele is determined to help people secure their future for their loved ones. Ele is married with three children.
Heather Pennycook (Broker)
Based near Wanaka and covering an area from Haast to Queenstown, Alexandra, Gore, Dunedin and beyond - Heather believes that honesty, integrity and excellent customer service is the most important aspect of her business (from application right through the life of the policy)
Over the last 20 years as a businesswoman and mother, Heather has experienced frustrations from dealing with Brokers selling only one companies products and who often disappeared after the policy sale - leaving her to deal direct with the insurance company over claims, questions and policy updates as her circumstances changed. Heather is passionate about providing independent advice to ensure that her clients purchase the insurance best suited to their needs and budget - without compromising quality of cover. Regularly reviewing and updating clients cover and providing her clients with a sevice that liaises with the insurance companies on their behalf to ensure they get the best possible cover at the best price, have the highest possibility of getting a claim paid out and so they are able to deal through her at claims time to minimise their stress, delays and paperwork.

Wendy Hayman (Office Manager)
Office manager, Wendy Hayman, is a very important part of Horizon. Her colleagues describe her as “the mortar holding the bricks together”.
Wendy has been with Horizon for twelve years and is the first point of contact for many clients. Wendy promotes comprehensive travel insurance as well as being a valuable support person for the team.
